Pre-launch preview

Put a bounty on your chronic illness.

Describe the problem, lock a reward in escrow, and let researchers, clinicians and builders compete to fix it. The money moves only after the fix holds.

It started as a joke.

After a reported breach at a major US lab company, one patient posted an offer to whoever now had her records: $10,000 to cure her chronic illness, paid after one year symptom-free.

It was funny because it was a reasonable deal. She had already tried the usual routes. The goal was clear, the reward was clear, and nobody got paid unless it worked. HealthBounty takes that deal seriously and adds the parts the joke was missing: consent, escrow and verification.

How a bounty works

Four steps, and the money moves at the last one.

  1. Step 1

    Post the problem

Describe your condition, your history and what you have already tried. Posts are anonymized by default, and you choose each detail a solver can see.

  2. Step 2

    Fund it in escrow

Set the reward and define what "solved" means. The money sits in escrow, so solvers know it is real and you know it only moves on the terms you set.

  3. Step 3

    Solvers submit protocols

Researchers, clinicians and builders send protocols with their reasoning and sources. You review them and decide, with your own doctor, what to try.

  4. Step 4

    Pay on verified outcomes

Agree on the measure up front, like six months without a flare. If the result holds for the full period and checks out, the bounty pays. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

The reward waits until the good days hold.

What a bounty could look like

These are made-up examples to show the format. They are not real people or real posts.

ExampleNot a real person

Daily migraines

Six years. Worse after poor sleep and around my cycle.

Already tried
Triptans, topiramate, magnesium, an elimination diet, two rounds of Botox
Counts as solved
Two or fewer migraine days a month for 6 months, from my headache diary and confirmed by my neurologist
$8,0006-month checkEscrow
ExampleNot a real person

Post-viral fatigue

Since an infection in 2022. I crash for days after a short walk.

Already tried
Graded exercise (made it worse), pacing, low-dose naltrexone, a sleep study
Counts as solved
Back to three workdays a week for 9 months, tracked by wearable step count and an activity log
$15,0009-month checkEscrow
ExampleNot a real person

Hand eczema

Cracks and bleeds every winter. Patch tests were inconclusive.

Already tried
Steroid creams, cotton gloves, fragrance-free everything, a long biologic waitlist
Counts as solved
Clear skin through one winter, checked from monthly photos by a dermatologist
$2,500One full winterEscrow

For people who solve hard problems

The right idea for a stubborn case often comes from someone who has seen ten like it, read the obscure paper, or built the tool that measures the right thing. HealthBounty pays for the idea that works.

  • Researchers

Bring a mechanism or a paper that fits the case, and get paid when it helps someone.

  • Clinicians

Say what you would look at next, within your license and your local rules.

  • Biohackers and self-trackers

Propose experiments a patient can run safely alongside their own doctor.

  • Builders

Make the tracking, testing or analysis that shows whether something actually worked.

Your health data was stolen once. Here, nothing is shared unless you say so.

  • Anonymized by default

Your name, exact location and contact details never appear on a bounty.

  • Consent for every detail

You pick what each solver can see, and you can take it back.

  • You own your data

Export it or delete it whenever you want. We won't sell or rent health data.

  • Paid for results, not promises

Payouts depend on the outcome you agreed to, checked over the full period.

Fair questions

HealthBounty isn't live yet. This is how we are designing it.

Is this medical advice?

No. Solvers share ideas and evidence. Any decision about your treatment belongs to you and a licensed clinician who knows your case.

Who decides whether it worked?

You and the solver agree on the measure before any work starts. It might be a symptom diary, a lab value, wearable data or a clinician's confirmation. The payout follows that agreed measure over the agreed period.

What if nobody solves it?

Each bounty runs for a set window. If no protocol meets the agreed outcome in that time, the money goes back to you.

Is it safe to try what a stranger suggests?

Only with your doctor involved. Protocols are suggestions to discuss with a licensed clinician, and anything that needs medical supervision is labeled that way.

Why would a solver bother?

Real money held in escrow, a public record of solved cases, and hard problems that aren't in any textbook.
